Winter 2019 Classes

On-site art classes are offered throughout the year in a variety of media for all ages and levels of training. Together with our professional artist/educators, students explore the creative process in a supportive and experimental environment, and all classes involve educational experiences in the museum galleries.

TEAPOTS AND FANTASTICAL VESSELS: HAND BUILT CERAMICS FOR YOUNG ARTISTS

Session A: Ages: 6-13

Dates & Time: Saturdays, JAN 19, 2019 to MAR 16, 2019 | Time: 10:00 am to 1:00 pm


Fee: $250 TMA Members, $270 Non-Members


Learn the history of teapots and explore traditional and contemporary vessel designs. Create your own interpretations using a variety of handbuilding techniques such as pinch & pull, coil, and slab. Intermediate and advanced students will further their understanding of glazing and sculpting methods. Selected projects will be fired throughout the course. Beginners to advanced students welcomed.

MIXED MEDIA PLAYTIME FOR PRE-K

Session B: Ages: 3-5

Dates & Time: Mondays, Jan.14 - March 18 from 10am-11:30pm | . (no class 1/21 & 2/18)


Fee: $135 TMA Members, $155 Non-Members


Explore and play with an array of art making mediums like watercolors, pastels, modeling clay and more! Students and caregivers will learn the basics of art fundamentals following an age appropriate curriculum that includes gallery exploration.

FACES, SPACES AND STORYTELLING FOR YOUNG ARTISTS

Session C: Ages: 6-9

Dates & Time: Thursdays, Jan 17 - March 14 from 4pm-5:30pm (no class 2/21)


Fee: $135 TMA Members, $155 Non-Members


Experiment with drawing, painting, sculpture and mixed media while learning about diverse cultures from around the world. Through gallery exploration, students will improve their visual arts vocabulary and begin to derive meaning from works of art. Students will also use their imagination to add narrative to their own fun creations!

ENVIRONMENTAL ART SCULPTURES

Session D: Ages: 6-9

Dates & Time:Tuesdays, Jan. 15 - March 12 from 4pm-5:30pm (no class 2/19)

Session E: Ages: 10-13

Dates & Time:Wednesdays, Jan. 16 - March 13 from 4pm-5:30pm (no class 2/20)


Fee: $135 TMA Members, $155 Non-Members


Come and create unique sculptures that express our connection to the environment we live in. Taking inspiration from the the Triton Museum exhibition and other environmental artists, students will get to play with natural and recycled materials to create their one of a kind art works. No previous sculpture experience required.
