Rising from the Nile: From the founding of Egypt to the Old Kingdom

They are among the most iconic structures ever created: the pyramids of Ancient Egypt. In this first lecture we will explore the foundations of this ancient civilization on the Nile as seen through the art, architecture, and the rise of a pantheon of powerful Gods.

The Reunification of Egypt and the Reign of Kings in the Middle Kingdom

Following turmoil and wars, the greatness of Egypt is regained, while mighty Osiris reigns supreme in the lives of the people.

Week 3: September 19, 2024

Power and Change in the New Kingdom

A female Pharaoh, a heretic ruler, and a boy king destined to be rediscovered in the 20th Century are just a few of the dynamic personalities of Egypt’s New Kingdom.

Week 4: September 26, 2024

Outside Powers in Egypt’s Late Period

Egyptian power changes many hands, until the arrival of Alexander the Great, and the subsequent reign of the Ptolemies, ending with Julius Caesar, Mark Antony, and Cleopatra.

Tamera Avery: Artist Talk

Sunday, October 6th, 2024

1:00pm to 2:00pm

Permanent Collection Gallery

Join us on Sunday, October 6th, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm for an in-depth artist talk by Triton exhibiting artist, Tamera Avery.

At once surreal and sublime, Tamera Avery's monumental paintings feature masked and costumed figures situated in liminal spaces. From glacial edges to post-nuclear bunkers, these environments are imbued with both potential and uncertainty: within them, young individuals navigate unconventional paths, transforming everyday objects into symbolic armor. Tamera Avery: Slipstream will be showcased in the Permanent Collection Gallery.

This event gives you the opportunity to meet the artist and learn more about her and her work, while viewing the artist's current exhibition at the Triton Museum of Art.

This event is free and open to the public (including free parking) and will include refreshments and light snacks.
