Museum Experience Representative (Events)

The Museum Experience Representatives (Events) are responsible for providing excellent customer service during museum events, usually on weekends and after museum hours. MERs are also responsible for the safety and care of the art on display and for ensuring the proper use of our venues: Triton Museum, Jamison-Brown House and Sculpture Garden by renters, caterers, guests, and other third-party vendors. The Museum Experience Representatives (Events) must be able to work a minimum of 4 weekend events per month to qualify for this position. The number of events will vary based on the month and Covid-19 mandates in Santa Clara County.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Checks and responds to emails regarding museum events promptly and on a regular basis

  • Familiarize themselves with museum rental guidelines and regulations

  • Greets renters in a friendly and positive manner, orients and interact with renters, caterers, guests, and third-party vendors

  • Assures the safety and care of the art on display, venues, renters, and guests.

  • Accurately performs opening/closing functions for the museum, Jamison-Brown House, and pavilions.

  • Deciphers event floor plans, contracts, and rental agreements 

  • Follows emergency and safety procedures, ensuring the safety and care of all renters and their guests

  • Efficiently facilitates checkout procedures including instructing renters and caterers on cleaning and breakdown expectations and performing a walk-through with renters at the end of every event

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year customer service experience.

  • Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to communicate in a courteous and professional manner

  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Days/Hours:

  • This is an on call, part-time position. Must be available to work nights and weekends. Starting pay: $17.50 per hour.

Museum Experience Representative (Daytime, Saturdays & Sundays)

The Museum Experience Representatives are responsible for providing excellent customer service to museum visitors and guests. MERs are also responsible for the safety and care of the art on display and for ensuring proper use of the Museum and surrounding facilities by visitors, renters, caterers, guests, and other third party vendors. 

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • Greet, orient and direct visitors in a friendly and positive manner; correctly answer inquiries for information about exhibits and programs. 

    Familiarize themselves with museum rental guidelines and regulations. Record daily attendance.

  • Accurately performs opening/closing functions for the museum, Jamison-Brown House, and pavilions.

  • Sell merchandise in the Museum Shop and maintain the clean and orderly appearance of the Museum Shop.

  • Assist in maintaining the inventory of Triton brochures and flyers, monitor gallery space and report incidents and issues. 

  • Set up and take down chairs and tables for TMA programs, classes and events. Perform other duties as directed by museum staff. 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year customer service experience.

  • Must have excellent customer service skills and be able to communicate in a courteous and professional manner

  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.

Days/Hours:

  • This is a part-time position with the occasional on-call. Must be available to work weekends. Starting pay: $16.50 per hour.
